A selection of Expert Witness Assignments undertaken by Roger Looker and Tim Seymour in complex financial services litigation in London.
1988: Dearden Farrow, Chartered Accountants, received a claim from the Administrator of a former client. We reported on Dearden Farrow’s due diligence investigation into an acquisition made by the former client.
1993-1994: Linnen v. Moore. We analysed and reported on the investment record and techniques of a specialist United States media investor who had been killed in a road accident in a claim brought by his estate against the driver’s insurers.
1997: Administrators of Astra Holdings Plc v. Stoy Hayward. We reported on the respective roles and responsibilities undertaken by Paine Webber and Stoy Hayward in the context of an acquisition by Astra of a Belgian company, PRB SA, and the associated rights issue.
1998: Disciplinary proceedings under the Joint Disciplinary Scheme of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. We produced a further report on the roles of Paine Webber and Stoy Hayward re Astra’s acquisition of PRB SA.
1997-1999: Administrators of Polly Peck International v. Stoy Hayward. We reported on the discharge by the management (principally the Directors) of Polly Peck International of its responsibilities in relation to the financial controls of the group in the period prior to the appointment of Administrators, and the consequences of any shortcomings identified.
These appointments largely derive from financial failures following a severe downturn in the economy. Stafford has recently received enquiries re availability in connection with similar investigations currently at a preliminary stage. |
